Accessibility - Our Website & Our College

Department Home

An overview of accessibility at Confederation College - website and in general.

How are we doing with accessibility?

We strive to make our college and our website as widely accessible as possible.
To this aim, our website:
  1. Has built-in TEXT-SIZE CONTROLS, located at the TOP RIGHT of every page.
NOTE: all modern Internet browser software, now respond to the convenient keyboard Magnification shortcut, Ctrl +  to INCREASE size, or Ctrl -  to DECREASE size. Then use your "arrow keys" to easily scroll around within the magnified window.
NOTE: These convenient shortcuts work in all modern browsers ... and even in other software programs! (a great tip for faculty use in the classroom to zoom into details on the screen.)

  2. Prompts our content editors to provide "alt tags" for images added the "body" areas of our pages. The optional Media Banner area located at the top of our pages features two text fields that provide a very extensive text explanation or alternative to the associated photo or graphic located beside it.
  3. The majority of the videos found on our site now have custom "closed captions" (CC) available for overlaying in the YouTube player interface.
  4. Uses web standards for dividing presentation from content.
  5. Uses menus with mouse-over tips to aid in navigation.
