Do you have a head for figures and dream of a career in business, industry or the not-for-profit sector? Then the Business Accounting program is the place to start. Designed for students who want to develop skills and knowledge appropriate for an entry-level accountant position, this two-year program gives you the perfect foundation to continue building your studies towards a professional accounting designation. You will also be given the option of one additional year in the Business Administration - Accounting program to obtain additional credits towards a Certified General Accountant’s designation.
Employment Opportunities:
Upon graduation from the Business Accounting program, you can expect to find employment in all areas of business, particularly in the small business enterprise sector.
Career categories include prospective positions, such as Bookkeepers, Account Records Clerks, Accounts Payable and Receivable Clerks, Payroll Clerks or Income Tax Clerks.
Admission Requirements:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (or equivalent) with courses from the College (C), University (U), University/College (U/C), or Open (O) preparation levels.
- or successful completion of the Mature Student Assessment.
- or appropriate credits from the Academic and Career Entrance program (ACE).
Courses Recommended: Grade 11 College Preparation Mathematics.
Applicants not meeting these admission requirements are encouraged to consider the College Access or General Arts and Science Certificate or Diploma programs; students who successfully complete one of these programs would be eligible to apply to programs in the Business, Hospitality and Media Arts areas.

Advanced Placement
Graduates from Thunder Bay high schools who successfully complete a prescribed set of business courses with a final mark of 70% or above may be eligible for college credit experience.
Articulation Agreements:
Graduates from this program are eligible to access articulation agreements with the following universities:
- University of Lethbridge - Alberta
- Athabasca University
- Griffith University, Queensland, Australia
- University of Western Sydney, Australia

NEW! College-To-College Transfer Agreement
This program has a transfer agreement with Cambrian
College and Northern College. Students from these institutions who are registered in a similar program who wish to transfer
into Confederation College's program will be granted transfer credits.
