"Key Performance Indicators" were implemented for the first time in 1998/99, in all Ontario Colleges. External consultants collected data and reported on graduate employment, graduate, student and employer satisfaction and graduate rates.
- Graduate Employment Rates
As one of the Key Performance Indicator initiatives introduced by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, a province-wide survey of all Ontario college graduates was conducted by an independent consultant. Graduate employment data reflects the employment status of the graduates, six months after graduation.

Graduation Rates
The Graduation Rate refers to the percentage of year 1 students who subsequently complete their program in the normal program span of 1, 2 or 3 years. While common methods have been used to calculate program-related information by all colleges, there may be some differences between how universities and private colleges calculate their information. - OSL (Ontario Student Loan) Default Rates
Default rates are calculated base on the last program attended by the student. Students could therefore have outstanding outstanding loans brought to Confederation College from previous programs & previous institutions.
The 2010 default rates reflect the repayment status of students who were issued Ontario Student Loans in the 2007-2008 academic year and completed or exited their studies by 2008-2009. For purpose of calculating institutional default rates, student loan recipients/defaulters are assigned to the last institution/program they attended in 2007-2008. The status of these loans was assessed as of July 2010 or about two years after the student was expected to begin repayment. These rates are updated on an annual basis.

Further information regarding OSL Default Rates by name and type of educational institution can be found at the site below.
The site below provides detailed and current information regarding the employment outcomes of graduates by area of study from all Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology.
Notes:
- A common methodology has been used for the calculations for all program-related information provided by all colleges.
- The data is effective as of April, and is updated annually.
- Each program is identified with an Approved Program Sequence Code (APS) that is assigned for each approved program by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.
