Laraine Tapak’s mother, Margaret Lewadny,  passed away on Monday January 16th .  Margaret worked in our print shop from 1979 to 1989 and was well respected around the College.  Margaret’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 23rd at 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s church.

Jay Serdula will be on campus providing his perspective about what it is like living with Asperger’s Syndrome. Faculty, staff, administrators and community members are invited to join Jay for this informative discussion on Thursday, January 19 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in room D322 (REACH Building Lecture Theatre) ...

Parking Passes are required in all lots by January 16th. If you do not have a valid parking pass for 2012 please apply online at https://www.trustedshopper.com/concollegeparking/. Passes can be picked up at the Bookstore within 2 business days of application submission. If you have any questions contact Courtney at extension 6168.

  1. Drop off empties to Confederation College (loading dock - back entrance closer to Fitness Centre) on Saturday, January 14th 10:00am - 3:00pm

  3. Email ccthunderhawkshockey@gmail.com to arrange pick up of your empties (between Jan. 9th - 13th)

Please join us for a time of remembrance on the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women, taking place next Tuesday December 6th, in the Shuniah Student Lounge at 12:30pm.

As well as commemorating the 14 young women whose lives ended in an act of gender-based violence at the Montreal Massacre, this day represents an opportunity to reflect on the phenomenon of violence against women in our society.

The Children’s Christmas party will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2011 in Ryan Hall (cafeteria) from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. College employees and students are invited to bring their children/grandchildren to the Christmas party.

Great food and great entertainment.  The Event will feature the introduction of team players, and staff, and some excellent entertainment delivered by College Staffers John "Jussi Rockatalo" Kantola and Tony Wood.  Sit Down $10, Takeout $8.

Mark your calendars for Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011 as Confederation College hosts Open House 2011.  Doors will be open to grade 11 and 12 students at 10am and to the general public at 4pm.  Interactive displays, presentations, tours and general information sessions will be available during the day and evening.

‘Tis the season of giving - for our students, college and community.  Beginning the 21st of November, the two week United Way/Confederation College/Stock the Bank campaign will be a combination of presentations and events filled with lots of ‘fun’!

The annual Academic Upgrading Booksale is coming up, and we are looking for saleable items: books, CDs, DVDs, puzzles, games etc.. All proceeds go to Academic Upgrading student awards.

If you have books etc. to donate, please take them to the Upgrading Lab (S340)  by November 18th.

It’s that time of year again, SUCCI’s Annual Fall Clothing Giveaway is fast approaching… so check those closets and bring in your new, or gently used items to the SUCCI Office before November 14th and we will find them a home with a student in need.  Accepting mens wear, womens wear, childrens apparel, outwear, shoes (please be clean and in good shape, no underwear.)

The "Sandwich Generation Club/Group" will be holding their next meeting Monday, Nov 14th at 1230 – 1:30 pm in C 244.

Pharmacist, Jaclyn Walter, a Board of Director’s member for the Alzheimer’s Association, is the guest speaker. Her presentation will focus on medication safety/concerns with the elderly. Question & answer period to follow.

In Joan's words...

The 2011 graduating Confederation College Practical Nursing students are celebrating their accomplishments with a traditional “Pinning Ceremony” on Friday May 20th, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Da Vinci Centre.

The pinning ceremony has been a graduation tradition that signifies the transition from student to nurse.

The National Association of College Educators in Social Service Work and Social Work Programs in Canada will be having the 8th Annual Conference in Thunder Bay and Confederation College.  This year’s conference theme is "Making Connections:  Professional and Interprofessional"

The Confederation College Film Program will be hosting a free evening of short films at 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 23th at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.

Just a quick reminder of games 3 and 4 of this semi-final series this Thursday and Friday nights.  Thursday at 7:30 pm and Friday at 8:00 pm.  Both games are at the Fort William Gardens.

Come out and cheer on your Thunder Bay North Stars!  With your support they can even up this series and take it back to Wisconsin.

March Break is fast approaching - time for Confederation College to open their doors to a week long Beach Party Celebration. You will notice an increased amount of activity in the Student Commons as we celebrate each day of March Break with a different activity.

Our Thunderhawks  Men's & Women's Indoor Soccer teams have returned from competition at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association's (OCAA) Central West Regional Championships held at the OSC (Ontario Soccer Centre) in Vaughan, ON.
