Getting Started

Online Learning is a form of instructor led independent study for those who cannot attend on-campus classes on a regular basis. This flexibility allows students to complete a course or program at a time and place of their own choosing.

Learning is facilitated by an instructor who is available to answer questions, encourage discussion on course topics, and provide feedback. The instructor will also help students with any curriculum difficulties that they may encounter and is only an email away. Students can post questions to fellow classmates as well as the course instructor through discussion boards.

The instructor provides a study schedule that keeps students "on track", and in some cases, eager students are ahead of schedule. It is the student's responsibility to check the course study schedule to ensure that they are meeting any assignment, test, and end date deadlines attached to the course. As long as students work within these set timelines, they will keep right on schedule.  Course material is available 24/7.

Any "written" exams will be written at a Confederation College campus or Contact North site. If a community does not have either facility available, then it will be the student's responsibility to find an approved proctor.

An online information sheet  (pdf sample) will be emailed to registered students.  Information regarding the OntarioLearn userid, password, instructions on how to access the course site, textbooks/materials information and options as to where to  purchase the materials.  The student is responsible for purchasing the required materials in a timely manner.
