Online Learning
This online learning environment allows students to take courses at their own pace while following a course structure, including deadlines. Instructors are available via email and course electronic communication tools such as chats and discussion boards. Courses are offered in three semesters. Some courses are also available by monthly intake.
Shortly after registration at Confederation College, students receive an Online Learning email advising them how to access their course, information on textbooks, materials, technical service, exams and other important information.
Evening Classes (Thunder Bay students only)
We offer “Just for Fun” and post secondary classes through traditional classroom settings. Evening and weekend classes may be available. Courses usually run one or two evenings per week or occasionally on weekends. Weekday evening courses are usually scheduled from 6:00 to 10:00pm Monday to Thursday. Weekend course hours are from 9:00am to 5:00pm. A full schedule of courses offered during each of three semesters: Fall, Winter and Spring/Summer. These part-time classes are instructor led. Most classes are scheduled in the Confederation College Shuniah (main) building.
Distance Education and
Virtual College
Students across Northern Ontario can participate in live classes via CENTRA (web enhanced audio conferencing) from any Regional Campus, Contact North site , or even from their home computer and high speed Internet (from home is referred to as “Virtual College”). In addition, some classes are delivered by Video Conferencing technology accessible from any Confederation College Regional Campus or select Contact North sites. CENTRA and Video Conferencing resemble classroom-type delivery allowing two way communication in real time. Students are able to listen, speak, see visual materials such as PowerPoint presentations, photos, or written communication via an electronic whiteboard.
As a Distance Education (DE) student you can log in from your home or office via Virtual College. For more information call 475-6550
