Biomass Energy Facility
As part of the ongoing commitment to being a leader in regional economic development, education and environmental sustainability, Confederation College is currently proceeding with installation of a fully-funded, state-of-the-art biomass energy facility which will provide primary heating for the principal assets of the Thunder Bay campus.
BioEnergy Learning and Research Centre (BLRC),
In order to showcase the technologies developed from this large capital investment, Confederation College is proposing to develop the BioEnergy Learning and Research Centre (BLRC), which will include a fully functional “living lab” located within the campus’ main boiler house. The BLRC will also feature a dedicated 150 KW demonstration and research boiler - accessible to faculty, students, industry partners and other interested parties for demonstration, training, and applied research opportunities that relate to biomass heating systems, controls and technologies and related fuel handling and emissions monitoring system.
