The hospitality industry is still one the fastest growing sectors in Canadian businesses. The increased demand for manager openings in food service and accommodation is estimated at over 30% of the people available to fill them in the next five years.
This program offers a wide range of job opportunities in local hotels. In the city of Thunder Bay there are 1,750 hotel rooms and as many in the surrounding region. Or you can explore the wealth of opportunities in restaurants, casinos, luxury retirement homes, cruise ships, convention and conference centers, resorts, clubs, bed and breakfasts and catering companies .
Many of our graduates now work in supervisory and management positions locally, nationwide and even worldwide. As long as people continue to travel and dine away from home, there will always be a need for hospitality management.
Our Hospitality Management Program will prepare you with the required skills to become successful in the industry. You will learn successful management skills through theory and practical labs delivered by professors with extensive hospitality experience. Our program includes a work placement in local hotels and restaurants giving you the opportunity for first-hand experience and a chance to develop contacts for future employment. All students will receive industry certification in food safety and responsible alcoholic beverage service. This program has a focus on financial controls, hospitality marketing and sales, human resources, entrepreneurship and planning.
Confederation College has renewed this program to meet the latest technology and industry requirements while keeping the basics in hospitality service.
Join the hospitality management team, as it is an exciting and rewarding career!
