The Mechanical Techniques program provides the student with the necessary basic and practical skills to enter a career as a skilled trades worker. The student has an excellent opportunity to enter the competitive job market, by participating in an established program. The fundamentals developed by the graduate students will enable them to be successful in a diverse mechanical related industry.
The program is developed for a career in the Mechanical Maintenance field. Successful graduates have found suitable employment in many related fields, such as Millwright, Millwright-Machinist, Machinist, Pipe-fitter, Welder, Welder-Fabricator, Electrician, Automotive Mechanic and Sheet-metal worker.
Students have found permanent employment in industries related to maintenance, machining and fabrication in the construction, mining, forestry, manufacturing, bulk material handling, power generation and service industries.
Vocational (hands-on) training is an essential component of the program. The practical modules are strengthened with academic studies, to provide students with an opportunity to understand mechanical components.
