Thunderhawks Curling Teams Bring Home "Silver!"
(February, 21 2013) -
Our Thunderhawks Men’s & Women’s Curling teams returned home Monday from competing at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Provincial Curling Championships in London, ON with some hardware – Silver Medals!!!! Both teams finished in top spot in their Round Robin division play and advanced to the medal round. Thunderhawks Men's Curling team went 6-2 in round robin play and our Women's team finished with a 3-1 record.
Next stop…Canadian Colleges Athletic Association National Curling Championships March 20 – 23 in Edmonton, AB.

Getting used to the experience of sudden death curling, Fanshawe squeaked by defending OCAA champion Sault 6-5 in the semifinal before defeating Confederation 7-3 in the gold medal match. Sault and Confederation finished tied for first in the round robin with 6-2 records.
Niagara almost let one slip away in the gold medal match, as Confederation forced extras with two in the eighth end. But the Knights scored four to win 9-5, earning Niagara's first provincial curling championship since its mixed team won gold in 1997.
