Does this sound like you? ...
If so, Medical Laboratory Assistant may be the career for you.
Medicine today would not be possible without the tests performed in the clinical laboratory. Whether it is a blood test, a throat swab or a biopsy, doctors depend on laboratory test results to accurately diagnose and treat illness, and monitor patient health.
In fact, up to 85 per cent of decisions about diagnosis and treatment are based on laboratory test results. Medical laboratory assistants/ technicians are an integral part of the health-care team. They perform pre-analytical functions such as collecting blood and other samples, performing ECGs, processing specimens and preparing special chemicals called reagents for use in testing. They will also conduct some limited testing.
