Strategic Plan (2010 - 2013)

Message from President

How can I enrich a life through learning?

The period through to 2013 will be an exciting time for Confederation College.  Poised to continue to deliver excellence in education throughout the region of northwestern Ontario, we are also looking at new markets, new opportunities and expanded innovation delivery to our broader stakeholder community.

This new plan builds upon the solid foundation of the previous 47 years.  Positive achievement has been delivered through all identified benchmarks, growing into the College of excellence we are today.  As we move forward, and as the demand by our students, our communities and our stakeholders grows even stronger, the new Strategic Plan will build on the past, enhance the learning experiences for students, explore new opportunities and respond to a new world.

Our vision is even more concise and clear.  Enriching lives through learning is a heady responsibility but one that we know so well.  Combining this mission with a more aggressive role in international markets and in applied research, our college is building for the future.

A clear direction as we move through 2013 is an increased emphasis on student satisfaction and excellence and a specific focus on the increase in numbers and the growth in success rate for the growing population of aboriginal learners.   This growth will necessitate change.  Change in how we teach, plan, develop and deliver services; however, there is no better college than Confederation which is poised to be a leader and a model for post secondary institutions throughout the province, country or worldwide.

Combined with the growth in technology, the new learner knows no boundaries.  We look to ways in which we can capture technology and combine it with the needs of today’s students and tomorrow’s employees.  And we continue to identify and respond to our stakeholders, the employers themselves,  who ultimately will reap the benefits of this labour.

The next few years are exciting and challenging.  For this plan to be successful we all must engage and believe that what we do each day makes a difference.  We all must ask ourselves, through our actions and words, how did I enrich a life today?  And we must seek out ways in which we can contribute to this overall  mission in everything we do.
