About Us
This is a pilot project initiated by Confederation College to stimulate the adoption of Internet and E-business practices by businesses in Northwestern Ontario in an attempt to make them more globally competitive. The project was inspired by the existing 'Student Connections' project managed by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges(ACCC). We will address three objectives compatible with the Student Connections project.
- Providing internet and e-business training for Canadian SMEs to increase their competitive capacity in a knowledge economy.
- Provide practical business experience and skill development for Canadian college students in IT related fields.
- Provide post-secondary students in IT related fields with assistance in financing their education through income earned during work experience.
Mission
The project has three components as its focus; education, application and client development.
1. Education- The students would provide symposiums, workshops and on-line interactive seminars on topics designed to increase the E-commerce capacity of SMEs in Northwestern Ontario. The educational modules would comply with the educational parameters of the Student Connections Program and could include some of the following topics based upon novice, intermediate and advanced users of technological applications.
2. Application- Students will offer a free web site and e-commerce readiness diagnostic for interested SMEs. These diagnostics will provide the business with an assessment of their current status in areas such as:
- Effective Web Site Design
- E-Commerce Readiness
- E-Branding Effectiveness
- Internet Marketing Effectiveness
3. Client Development- We will facilitate the development of e-commerce capabilities for interested SMEs by matching them with IT firms capable of addressing their needs. The students will use ProjectName's web site to post client projects that interested IT service providers could quote on. The students would be in charge of the tendering site and would facilitate this process.
